"Remind yourself that by finishing the marathon, you'll be among the 0.1 per cent of Britons who go the distance"
(Runner's World Magazine p23 April 2010)

That statistic amazed me 0.1% of Britons have run a marathon at one time in their life time, that is a measly 62,041 people. My reckoning is a large proportion of that figure do it once and once only for either charity or "things to do before I die" types. What I want to know is how many Britons have run above that distance, I would say not many. I like the idea that I am "A special idiot" thank you Alan Cabelly

“Any idiot can run a marathon - it takes a special kind of idiot to run an ultramarathon.” - Alan Cabelly
