Trail word of the week

An unsegmentable, gliding speech sound varying continuously in phonetic quality but held to be a single sound or phoneme and identified by its apparent beginning and ending sound, as the oi-sound of toy or boil.

Ok, I hear you say, what is this one all about? We were out on a great trail run today running on and around the area of the North Downs Way, Knockholt when we found ourselves running through an enormous field of brown cows and calves, with it came the immortal quote as we greeted the many ungulates "How now brown cow" a perfect example of a set of diphthongs.
