Back on the road

With great trepidation I went out for my first run since my injury to see how my leg would stand up to the rigours of the road and trail.

Things were going well for the first few miles but my calf and hamstring started to tighten up but I decided to move on until I arrived at the running club where I could stretch out and just meet up with the members. After a chat I decided to return home without a run out but found that the beginners group were going towards my house and had a very enjoyable [recovery paced] run with them...trouble is the leg was hurting, hurting, hurting.

Cold compress and then a hot bath has relieved it for this evening but I dread tomorrow morning!

  1. Just wondering, do you think shorter runs might be actually better for starters? Maybe right now 'a few miles' is too much for your leg but a couple (I know that's a pathetic distance) would be fine.

  2. You are absolutely right Ewa, I was coming to the same conclusion last night and it is good you have confirmed it.
    The leg is vastly improved today and it probably just needs some tender loving care, I will be making sure that any runs that I may do in the next week or so are going to be at recovery pace and as flat as I can find.
