Bags packed for Brecon

We were laughing last weekend that I have a habit of taking a photograph of my kit the night before a race or event however this time I just have too much to fit on the photo as there is a compulsory list:

Compulsory Kit List
  • Backpack or suitable means of carrying required kit
  • Food (including all nutrition supplements, energy bars etc)
  • Ability to carry water ( absolute min 500ml)
  • Full body coverage of some thermal value.
  • Waterproof Jacket
  • Waterproof Bottoms
  • Head coverage
  • Gloves
  • Whistle
  • Headtorch
  • Compass
  • Space Blanket or preferably emergency bivy.
  • First Aid Kit
  • Footwear with adequate grip for slippery off-road conditions.
  • Map (supplied)
Advisory Kit
  • Additional thermal layers to the bare minimum listed above.
  • Spare batteries for headtorch
  • Mobile phone
  • Money
  • Hydration Tablets
  • Energy Gels
Looking at the lists above it is common sense for mountain running but it just adds that little extra weight for such a climb. I am hoping that we will be allowed to drop the waterproofs but looking at the weather forecasts there is little hope of this. The picture attached to this post was taken at 4.07 pm 1st December 2011 and at least there is no snow which would make it very interesting indeed.
